Clarity of Vision

Clarity of Vision

Recently I had eye surgery in which they removed the lens affected by cataracts, a cloudiness that occurs over time. I had the right eye done first and then the left one three weeks later. It was amazing to me as I looked through the right eye, and compared it to the left. I did not realize how yellow my vision had become. It reminded me of looking at a light bulb that has very yellow light and one that is very white. I even missed the yellow glow that had grown very comfortable and normal for me until I noticed how colors are affected. I was missing the brilliance of color, which was amazing. I saw the clear blues as I looked at the ocean and perfect crisp color of flowers. So many things were clear and vibrant. I considered how the world’s view could gradually cloud your vision, if you accept its truth, through television shows, advertisements, magazines and all the things on the internet and social media. As we look at life through this lens, it seems very normal until you compare it to the perfect clear lens of God’s Word. God’s truth gives you a clear perspective.

For years, I have been enjoying the time I have spent memorizing God’s Word. These verses have guided me, encouraged me and overall clarified how I looked at life, giving me God’s wisdom for all the roles God has given me. God’s truth has shown me His clear and perfect will and has removed the cloudy or twisted vision of the world. In Proverbs, we are encouraged to keep God’s Word, treasure it and live by it. Use it as the lens by which you see life. Meditate on the truth, memorize it and engrave it on your heart.

“My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart” (Proverbs 7:1-4 NKJV).

Are you fearful, anxious, feeling overwhelmed? Go to God’s Word and seek His truth to clarify your vision of your situation. Find verses to claim as you pray for His guidance, wisdom and peace.

Dear Holy Father, creator of heaven and earth, I thank and praise you today for your Word. “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” (Psalm 119:18 NIV) Help me, Lord, not to conform to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Then I will be able to test and approve what your will is, your good, pleasing and perfect will for me. (Romans 12:2 NIV)

I pray this in Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
